This week started strong with the completion of several outstanding tasks, including automating the process of adjusting URLs for Cannabas.de. This was a significant challenge, especially since I had limited experience with Python, but with help from colleagues and extensive testing, I finally succeeded. It was incredibly satisfying, particularly because it was a task I had taken on myself. After wrapping up the Cannabas.de automation, I moved on to updating the Fortinet training modules for Tailor IT, and I was glad to see them go live.
One of my key takeaways this week was the importance of flexibility and creative problem-solving, especially when facing technical challenges. A large part of my work focused on improving the Datatoppers Academy website. I had to implement complex code changes to ensure that specific content was only visible to logged-in users. What stood out was how intricate these tasks became, as the functionalities I needed weren’t standard options in Shopify. This required a lot of research, debugging, and problem-solving, which was a valuable but time-consuming learning experience.
Another task this week was updating information for PerfecteWijn.nl. While this was more repetitive administrative work, I found it useful to clear up smaller tasks so I could fully focus on my creative and technical projects. Later in the week, I had the opportunity to create animations for HOWDEN Group’s LED billboards, which was a refreshing break from the technical work. I received great feedback on the first animation, reinforcing how important it is to stay creative, even in a tech-heavy environment.
What stood out this week was the diversity of my tasks. From adjusting URLs and writing code to designing animations and updating client content, I gained a broad perspective on the different aspects of working in a company like Indicia. My goal for this week was to make progress on technical projects and animation tasks, and I definitely achieved that.
For next week, I expect to continue working on animations and technical improvements for the websites, but I also hope to dedicate more time to expanding my creative projects.
