Internship Indicia Week 15

Polishing the pitch & powering up TotalFund

This workweek revolved around two major goals: finishing the first version of my internship final presentation and moving the new TotalFund website forward by a big step. That started with gathering all internship experiences, results, and visuals, which helped me sharpen the common thread for my story. It felt good to notice that the presentation is now largely in place; the structure fits, and most slides are filled. It gave me peace of mind and confidence to fine-tune the last details without time pressure.
At the same time, TotalFund demanded almost all of my attention. The base theme offered hardly any configuration options, so I had to dive into a lot of custom code and build my own blocks that are flexible. That went surprisingly smoothly: after a day it already looked polished, and the main page is technically ready. What could be improved is aligning the content. The input on texts and company information was sometimes vague, which meant I often had to guess what was meant exactly. Next time, I want to schedule a brief content workshop with the client right away, so all texts, tone of voice, and key messages are clear beforehand. That will save hours of rewriting later.

What stood out was Mees’s feedback: he wanted the site to become an almost one-to-one copy of a reference. At first that felt limiting, but I soon saw the opportunity to achieve a convincing result with limited resources. The compliments I received at the end of the week about the new blocks especially that they’re easy to reuse really made me happy. The toughest moment was searching for creative styling within the theme’s constraints; sometimes every small change seemed to require a workaround. Still, step-by-step testing and constantly achieving small successes helped me stay motivated.
My goal was to get TotalFund technically complete and to finish my presentation to 80 percent, and I succeeded. In the coming week, I expect to receive the missing content, fill out the site further, and polish the presentation with colleagues’ feedback. I also want to set aside plenty of time to test all the new blocks thoroughly on mobile, so the launch goes flawlessly. With a clear plan, concrete feedback points, and an almost finished story, I look forward to the final stretch with confidence.
