Internship Indicia Week 14

From tool-stack tweaks to team triumphs

This week revolved around personal development, creative work, and team building, with a clear mix of independent projects and fun colleague activities. After the day off on Liberation Day, I quickly found the balance between optimizing my own work environment and completing Indicia assignments.

First, I focused on setting up a more efficient tool‑stack. By experimenting with open‑source programs such as DaVinci Resolve, Affinity, and PDF‑XChange, I laid the foundation to handle video editing, graphic design, and document management entirely in‑house. This project felt like investing in myself: it required patience to get everything working, but yielded a clear step‑by‑step plan for future tasks.
Next, I shifted to finishing my internship final presentation and the accompanying report. Bringing together all the insights and visual designs isn’t finished yet, but a start is now in place. By gathering content in the morning and designing the layout in Figma in the afternoon, I produced a presentation that is both informative and visually appealing. At the same time, I worked on renovating the Living First site, transforming existing content into a portfolio style. It was educational to collaborate with an external client (Rik).

The highlight of the week was the Indicia Sports Day at Hockey Club Tilburg. In teams of 14 colleagues, we played various sports, which not only created a great atmosphere but also strengthened our mutual bond. It was fun to get to know colleagues outside the usual project context and catch up afterward during the drinks. This day made clear how important it is for team building and work enjoyment to do something relaxing together.
What went well was the ability to switch quickly between very different activities: from technical installation and self‑study to design work and social events. I discovered that I draw energy from variety and that I especially stand out in organizing my work and visually presenting information. At the same time, I noticed that during group events I sometimes lost sight of project deadlines. I need to plan better so that even after a busy day full of activities, I reserve time to finish loose ends. For the coming week I will take along a number of improvement points, including a tighter time block for final presentation work so that other tasks do not run through it.
