This first week at Indicia was both educational and filled with new experiences. The introduction was smooth and provided a clear overview of the company and my expectations. Setting up my accounts and obtaining the ISO certification were quick but essential steps to get started. The positive work environment and support from colleagues made for a strong beginning.
One thing that stood out this week was the fast-paced nature of switching between tasks. Early on, I got hands-on experience with Shopify, which allowed me to familiarize myself with its Liquid code. While initially challenging, I quickly became more comfortable with the system. A major hurdle was encountering a critical error on a website I was working on. Although frustrating, it pushed me to dive deeper into the system and expand my knowledge.
Another key takeaway this week was the importance of not getting stuck in what I already know but instead documenting everything thoroughly and iterating systematically. This realization also led me to start thinking about my own project, which I will focus on more in the coming weeks. Balancing technical tasks with strategic planning for my project is helping me gain deeper insights into the company’s processes.
Here are examples of the websites I worked on this week and the bug I encountered.
The feedback I received this week focused mainly on structuring my work and handling technical challenges. I was encouraged to reflect more on my choices and improve my workflow by experimenting more. I plan to take this feedback seriously and approach my work in even greater detail moving forward.
It felt great to collaborate on a project like the rebranding of Bubbles & Bo, where we worked on the first designs in Figma. It was inspiring to see how we both contributed creative ideas to the project.
One challenge I faced was managing the overwhelming amount of new information and tasks. Keeping track of everything at once was difficult at times, but I’m happy with the progress I made. My goal for this week was to get off to a strong start, and I feel I achieved that. I’ve already learned a lot about the systems and workflows, and I’m excited for the weeks ahead.
Next week, I expect to gain more hands-on experience, particularly in further developing the rebranding for Bubbles & Bo. I hope to build more confidence in using Shopify and Liquid while also progressing on my personal project. I’m eager to continue expanding and improving my skills in the coming weeks.
